Hotel review: Downtown Camper in Stockholm

*Collaboration: Downtown Camper

Stockholm is like a second home to me (or third of forth, who is counting anyway?) – and yes, mainly because back in 2010 I was bored so I just moved to Stockholm for no reason at all. Or well, I did want to learn Swedish but basically the only thing I learned from those months of living in Sweden was how to eat wasabi. Anyway, I still visit Stockholm frequently for work and play and this time I was in town with my dear travel blogger colleague Milou to show her around my favorite nordic city.Downtown Camper is a new signature hotel by Scandic hotels located in the heart of Stockholm, on Bunkebegstorg 9 just above Sergelstorg and a short walk from the main railway station. Right as you enter the lobby, you'll be greeted by a very trendy hipstery atmosphere. The lobby has a lot of natural light, green plants and just in general a fun and relaxed vibe. The customer service we encountered throughout our stay was also great, the staff seemed to enjoy their working environment which is always a good sign at any place. The hotel also offered some activities such as different yoga classes and running excursions, but we were too lazy to hop along.tukholma downtown camperdowntown camper aula

The rooms at Downtown Camper hotel

The hotel has all together 14 different room types all from single rooms to fabulous suites. We stayed in the Cozy Double category room, which was just perfect for us two. The room is simple but good design in mind styled and decorated. I especially loved the wide windowsill, which was perfect for a bit of smooth jazz and replying to emails after a long day of exploring the beautiful city of Stockholm. The only real downside to the room was its extremely dim light – especially as we wanted to take some photos, haha.Based on the photos on the hotels website, I would absolutely love to try their Camper Grande Suite one day – you can see all the available rooms right over here.downtown camper huonehuone downtown camperscandic hotel tukholmakylpyhuone downtown camper

Breakfast at Downtown Camper

Scandic hotels in Stockholm seem to in general have fantastic breakfasts with a lot of healthy options. The breakfast at Downtown Camper is served on the ground floor at restaurant Campfire. There were a lot of organic, vegan and local options and a separate juice bar at the back with fruit & vegetable shots to kick-start the day. Oh and most importantly; there were waffles. The trouble in big hotels is often that the breakfasts tend to get busy and I really need to start my days slowly. Nowadays as my job involves a lot of travelling, I often order my breakfast in the room to avoid the crowds, but another considerable option is to just go have breakfast earlier than most. We went for breakfast just around 9am, which is probably usually the busiest time.I enjoyed some lovely natural yoghurt with the hotels own special granola and some honey. Then I also stuffed my face in oranges as I'm going through a strange face of constantly craving oranges in all forms they come in. In general I love a healthy hotel breakfast, it's not so much a treat when you have hotel breakfast sometimes more often than breakfast at home, haha. #travelbloggerproblems.I did short of crave for the waffles, but I was too lazy to queue..downtown camper aamiainenaamiainen downtown camper

The Nest rooftop pool & cocktail lounge

In the upstairs of Downtown Camper, there is an oasis away from the busy city; The Nest. The Nest is a rooftop pool with sauna and gym and also a cocktail lounge = all you need for a good life. Am I right? The rooftop pool is pretty small and more ideal for just chilling than actually swimming around so much, but it was still really nice and the view from the pool above the city was worth enjoying. And the pool is well heated, so a cold weather is no excuse to not enjoy it – and hey, you can hit the sauna straight after! The Nest also serves delicious healthy lunches and really good cocktails. We enjoyed lovely salmon poke bowls and lunch wine with my dear friend Johanna and later continued to celebrate my 30th birthday with some champagne. Both me and Milou work online and had a lot of work to do during our weekend getaway in the city. The Nest was the perfect spot to get some cappuccino and hustle.the nest downtown campertukholmaP5020239.jpgthe nest rooftop poolthe nestP5030312.jpgdowntown camper the nestP5030311.jpgtukholma hotelli

So I guess that's that. I definitely enjoyed our stay in Downtown Camper and can see myself staying there again!
